ITL National Project

This bold and transformative Project will write Australian women artists back into our history. Most women professional artists who were influential in their lifetimes are missing from Australia’s art history simply because they were women.

The Sheila Foundation Into the Light Project will:

  • Create a dedicated Into the Light website, bringing together information and data on lost women artists from across Australia.
  • Support state-by-state research to uncover the hundreds of women artists we know were active throughout our history.
  • Make this information available free of charge, ensuring these names and contributions are never forgotten again.

You can help build the ITL website and fund state-by-state research into thousands of women artists. We have raised close to half the funds needed thanks to a generous bequest from the late Jeanette Connolly and other donors. We are now fundraising for the balance.
